Dr Ruwani De Silva studied medicine at the University of Sydney and graduated with MBBS Honours in 1988. Her clinical school was Royal North Shore Hospital. She has subsequently worked at the Concord Repatriation General Hospital, Hawkesbury Hospital, and Liverpool Hospital. In 1994 she was awarded her PhD in Medicine after completing her thesis in cancer genetics at the Children’s Medical Research Institute, Westmead Children’s Hospital. She has also completed a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the Children’s Medical Research Institute with a Medical Foundation Research Scholarship awarded by the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Sydney. She is widely published in the area of cancer research. She was awarded her FRACGP in 2021. Her special interests in general practice are child health, women’s health and the management of cancer and palliative care.
